Legal matters are part of everyday life. Sometimes our involvement with the legal system results in great joy. Sometimes, bad things happen to good people. My practice is centered around helping those who find themselves accused of a crime. Whether it be matters as simple as traffic violations or more serious charges including misdemeanors and felonies such as DUI, Assault, Theft, Drug Possession, Drug Trafficking, Robbery and others. When you find yourself in a situation where you are accused of a crime, YOUR attorney is the only one who has your best interests in mind. That’s why you need an attorney with extensive experience as a criminal defense lawyer.

My life experience allows me to view cases from all sides. Having served as a Military Policeman in the United States Marine Corps and obtaining my degree in Police Administration, I am familiar with the environment in which law enforcement operates. I understand their “language.” My experience enables me to anticipate the angles that law enforcement and the prosecution take when prosecuting my clients.  A defense lawyer with tunnel vision is a dangerous thing.

After graduating from the University of Louisville School of Law, I began practicing in Louisville where I remained for 14 years. While in Louisville, I practiced criminal defense and also served for 5 years as general counsel for a large automotive group where I learned the intricacies of the automotive sales and service business. It also allowed me to network with the representatives of the various regulatory agencies that oversee the industry as well as many manufacturer representatives. This gives me a unique body of experience to draw from when representing my auto clients. In 2006, I moved back to Lexington and opened up my own office.

cropped-Spedding-Portrait.0416.jpgI have been practicing for over 20 years and have a passion for the law. I handle each case personally and mount the most effective defense for my criminal clients and draw on my experience in the auto industry when representing my auto clients. Remember, bad things happen to good people. When you find yourself involved with the government in a criminal case or dealing with one of the many issues involving the auto business, I bring a unique perspective and body of knowledge to the situation to assist my clients.
